Layton Leissner passed away on October 30, 2025, at the age of 88.
He was born at home on February 3, 1937, in New Braunfels, Texas. The doctor that delivered him later became his father-in-law! He married Carole Karbach and this past April they celebrated 66 wonderful years.
Education began at Carl Schurz and then New Braunfels High School. He spent one year at Sul Ross in Alpine and finished at the University of Texas.
Layton enjoyed the outdoors and spent many days on the golf course. He also loved being at his ranch in Brackettville or sitting on the back porch at home watching the deer. Any spare time was spent reading and he usually had a book or two with him.
Layton was a member of First Protestant Church, Soiree, Braunfels Foundation Trust, and Sophienburg Verein.
Layton is preceded in death by his parents, Nell and Al Leissner, and his son, John Leissner. He is survived by his wife, Carole, daughter, Lisa, and her husband, David, of Fredericksburg. Also, grandson, Zachry Callahan and his wife, Ashlyn along with great-granddaughter, Teagan and great-grandson, Kieren Callahan of Fredericksburg.
A memorial celebration service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 7, 2025, at First Protestant Church in New Braunfels, Texas.
A Private burial will be held at the Comal Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Protestant Church or the charity of your choice in Layton’s honor..
