Lester “Doug” Douglas Toles, age 76, of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, passed away surrounded by love.
Doug was born on March 9, 1949, in Frankfort, Kentucky to the late Ray Powers Toles and Jenny Louise Robertson Toles. He spent much of his life doing what he did best—working with his hands, fixing things, and making people laugh. He proudly worked as a Master Mechanic with the Frankfort Plant Board, where he retired.
Doug was a true jokester with a quick wit and an easy smile. He loved sharing laughs with family and friends and had a way of bringing humor into everyday moments. One of his greatest joys was working on vehicles with his grandson Christian, a passion they shared and cherished together.
He also enjoyed participating in car shows and spending summers at Dale Hollow Lake. Whether he was mowing his lawn, tinkering with a car, or just sitting with his grandchildren, Doug was happiest when he was surrounded by family. He also dearly loved his dog, Scooter, who was a constant companion and brought him comfort, joy, and many smiles.
He is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne “Bonnie” Kay Toles; his daughter, Kristie Louise Metts, and her spouse David Osborne; his grandchildren, Christian Douglas True (spouse Casey True) and Kaitlyn Kay Henson (spouse Nathan Henson); his great-grandchild, Westyn; and a sister, Lucy Crittenden. Doug will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his humor, his kindness, and the love he had for his family.
Along with his parents, Doug is preceded in death by his brothers; Walter Toles, Richard "Tubby" Toles, Wilber Toles, Donald Toles, and Clifford Toles.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 12:30 PM at Ritchie and Peach Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until time of service. Burial will follow at Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Henson, David Osborne, Levi Stratton, Tanner Yunt, Aaron Hopkins, and David Yunt. Honorary pallbears will be James Clay, Westyn Jones, Christian True, and Jeffrey True.

I can still see Doug and Wilbur roaring by our house on Devils Hollow Rd back in the day in their flourescent green 65 Mustang that they painted. Earlier, we shared a lot of laughs on the school bus and playing basketball. Only in the last 20 years did I realize that the Toles and Robertsons came from the same area of Harrison Co that our family came from and they had Harney connections. Worked with their cousin Ronnie Robertson, we shared an interest in classic cars. Rest easy ol Buddy.
