Diane Marie Mallstrom

Diane Marie Mallstrom, of Newtown, Ohio, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and close friends on July 21, 2023.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents Roy & Carolyn (nee Mefford) Mallstrom, and a host of beloved pets. She is survived by her precious kitty Angel, brother Paul, several cousins (she was the youngest of 18 cousins on her mother’s side!), and a circle of friends who considered her family.

Diane spent her younger days in Sharonville and Indian Hill, graduating from Indian Hill HS in 1981. She went on to graduate from Hanover College with the degree of Bachelor of Arts in 1985. She continued her education with two master’s degrees: one in History in 1989 from Wright State University and the other in Library Science in 1997 from Kent State University.

She loved history, genealogy, traveling, her Swedish heritage on her Dad’s side, singing, Fiona the hippo, chocolate, and her work with the Cincinnati Public Library. She was always a proud Bengals fan, persevering through the dark times. And an avid anglophile, Diane proudly displayed a waving image of Queen Elizabeth II in her car! 

Diane’s faith was central to her wherever she lived, and she was always an active member of her local church. Since 2009, she was a member of the Newtown United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Newtown United Methodist Church on Wednesday September 27, 2023 at 6:00 PM, followed by a meal to be shared with Family and Friends.
