Linda Traut Obituary

Linda Jean Traut, 84 of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, July 4, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family. Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Teahen Funeral Home. Burial: Center Point Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. till service time on Tuesday at Teahen Funeral Home. 


Linda is survived by her husband, Ken Traut of Cedar Rapids; six children, Susan (John) Costello of Marion, James (Andrea) Andrews of Altoona, Chris Peacock of Center Point, David (Darcy) Traut of Cedar Rapids, Donna Schulte of Marengo and Diane (Kris) Shogren of Hitchcock, TX; numerous grandchildren; brother, Sam McClurg of Shellsburg; half-brother, Rich McClurg of Seattle, WA; two in-laws, Cynthia McClurg of Seattle, WA and Monty Montague of Norway.  


Linda was preceded in death by her two grandchildren, Nicholaus Andrews and Sarah Judge; and two siblings, Bobbie Montague and Steve McClurg.


Linda Jean McClurg was born on September 8, 1941, daughter of Charles and Sarah “Louise” (Swallom) McClurg in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Palo High School.  Linda was united in marriage to Kenneth Traut November 28, 1998 in Cedar Rapids.  She worked for Collins Radio and also Hunters Specialties.


Linda enjoyed gambling and going to casinos, flowers and going on day trips with Ken. She was an avid Iowa State fan; she loved following Caitlin Clark and the ‘Fever’who changed her views on girls basketball. She also enjoyed Freddy Hoiberg as he coached men’s basketball in Nebraska. But most of all loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. 


Memorials may be directed to the family in Linda’s name as they will be donating to St. Croix Hospice.


The family would like to say a special thanks to St. Croix Hospice for their staff and wonderful care for their mother while on hospice.

We're so very sorry to hear of Linda's passing. Sam stopped by after the funeral & told us. We're so sorry we didn't know in time to attend. Just know you all are in our hearts. She was an awesome lady who'll be greatly missed. May God provide you all with great memories of this terrific lady.
