Mrs. Lomeria Herring Hickman, a faithful and devoted wife and mother, passed away on October 28th at home at the age of 94 after suffering from an illness. She was surrounded by many loved ones at her time of passing.
Ms. Lomeria was born on May 26th, 1931, to Alton and Georgia Mae McDaniels. She was married to the late Liston Herring of Mullins and the late David Hickman of Coward. Lomeria was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Herman McDaniel, Mamie Phillips, Vernon McDaniel, Margie Sawyer, Clara Turner, Edna Haselden, Benjamin McDaniel, and Eunice Herrington.
Ms. Lomeria is survived by her four girls: Linda (James) Huggins, Margaret (Mack) Dozier, Marie (David) Poss, and Angela (Bucky) Bethea; and ten grandchildren: Richard (Cynde) Sawyer, Vicky (Kelly) Larrimore, Tina Floyd, Steven McLellan, Cheryl (Chris) Hudson, Tammy King, Michael McLellan, Allen Brown, Shawn (Donna) Brown, and Wesley Huggins (Ashley Suggs).
Ms. Lomeria was a member of Refuge MPTA church and an avid gardener and traveler. She is best known for her love of God and family. She leaves behind these words:
“When I depart this life, remember I have lived a good life. Some good and some not so good, but it always was a blessing. 4 beautiful girls, 10 special grands, all my great grands and 11 great great grands. Praise the Lord. God is so good!!! I love each and every one. Please meet me in Heaven. It’s going to be a beautiful place.”
Graveside services to be held on Friday, October 31st, 11 a.m. at Red Hill Cemetery, Mullins, SC. Officiating the ceremony, eldest grandson, Richard A. Sawyer, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
