Susan,
I write this with deep regrets that I did not get up to visit one last time with your Dad before he died. I guess I didn't know really how sick he was. It makes me sad that I did not get up there right after we spoke on facebook. Although I never worked for him I admired him as an educator and spoke with him many times at Perry High and ball games. I considered him my friend and fellow educator. I have fond memories of talking with him as we would be pulling for Perry High at basketball and football games long after he left Perry and lived in Macon. I also did not know about all his experiences and accomplishments, but they were many. I just really enjoyed being in his company. Now, Susan you have had a hard time losing your mother, John, and now your Dad. But remember to keep the faith and one day y'all will be together again. May God have peace over you during your time of grief.

So sorry about the death of Mr. Marchman. He was my basketball coach in the 9th grade. We all loved him. He was also my principle for several years in late 50's, early 60's. Did not know about all his credentials since he did not talk about them. Was able to see him last when he came to our 45th H. S. reunion. My sympathy to his family.

Mr. Marchman hired me to teach science for him at Perry High in the early 70s. I credit his advice and counseling for stopping me from quitting several times that first year. I had a chance to thank him personally a while back for what an influence he had on me. He was a good man.
