Marcus-David Peters Obituary
Marcus-David Lamar Peters also known as "Poppy" was the son of Jerry and Barbara Peters. He was born in Newburgh New York October 15th, 1993 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He later moved to Middlesex County Virginia where he graduated from Middlesex High School at the top of his class with a GPA greater than 4.0. After high school he attended VCU where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and went on to teach Biology at Essex County High School in Tappahannock.
Poppy was known for his big and bubbly personality and his ability to brighten a room with his smile. He was a man of faith and a very family oriented person. Marcus loved to help others succeed and surpass expectations. One of his aspirations was to create a youth program to help underprivileged children to reach their goals. Poppy enjoyed watching others excel and constantly raised the bar for compassion and empathy.
Marcus passed away unexpectedly at 12:11 am on May 15, 2018 at MCV Medical Center in Richmond VA with his immediate family at his bedside. He leaves behind a father Jerry Peters Sr., mother Barbara Peters, eleven siblings :(oldest to youngest) Tameka Cotton, Destiny Falcon, Princess Blanding, Katrina Peters, LaToya Jarrell, Jerry Peters Jr, Tekia Peters, Mona’ Jackson, Davina Peters, Jeremy Peters, Kiera Peters, as well as six nieces, five nephews, a grandmother and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Marcus will be deeply missed and never forgotten. His spirit and loving personality will live on through the continuous perseverance of his family, friends students and colleagues.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 10-11:30 a.m. at Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory, Gloucester, Va.

We weren't close, but Marcus was one of the most influential, well mannered, kindest individuals that I had the pleasure of learning from. He really was a special person, and he'll be greatly missed by all who knew him.

For family and friends - and even for those of us that didnt know you well - we have each been deeply affected by the circumstances that have caused you to depart this realm. Marcus, little did we know at the time, that we were being blessed by an angel! Your genuine compassion and kindness to others is very rare! There have been a lot of questions I never got to ask you, and a lot of questions I havent got to answer... I remember starting school late and my first B day was November 7th I remember the welcoming you gave me I remember your big contagious smile, you made me feel so welcomed like I was at home. I could come and just talk to you, you always checked on me to make sure that I was okay. I didnt just label you as my teacher, I labeled you as my friend, a mentor, a role model, and through all of this I still dont know why It had to happen to you... I never got the chance to ask you to be my Senior prom date... or You never got the chance to witness me graduate and I never got the chance to say Goodbye but I Promise mr.
