Margaret J. Matick
Exeter – Margaret J. “Maggie” Matick, 87 of Exeter passed away unexpectedly the morning of February 7, 2025.
She was born in Somerville, MA, April 21,1937 the daughter of the late Raymond F. and Margaret (Murray) Thomas.
Maggie was raised in Fremont and made her home in Exeter for over 50 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Bill in 1997.
She lived her life to the fullest and travelled to Alaska, Italy, Oregon, Florida and many local trips around New England. Maggie golfed with her grandchildren and enjoyed several trips to Disney with them as well,and was an active member of the Gilman Grange for over 50 years, winning several ribbons for sewing and crocheting.
Maggie had many jobs over the years including managing a mobile home park, working at Deep Meadow and as a bail commissioner for Rockingham County.
In 2015 she moved to 277 Water Street in Exeter where she made many friends and enjoyed trips to Walmart, out to lunch, playing Bingo and doing puzzles. “The Ladies” would get together and make meals on special occasions. Maggie accomplished a lot including attending UNH and Cornell University, climbing Mount St. Helens in 2001 and she walked the Boston Marathon in 2003 in 10 hours.
She is survived by her daughter Wanda, her grandchildren, Hayley and Bryce, a great grandson, Wyatt, her sister, Georgia Bolduc and her brother, Matthew Thomas.
Wanda would like to extend her extreme gratefulness to everyone at 277 Water Street for the past 10 years, Exeter Hospital, Colonial Poplin and most of all Cedar Health in Portsmouth for the wonderful compassionate care Maggie received.
In keeping with Maggie’s wishes there will be no formal services. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the NHSPCA, P>O> Box 196, Stratham, NH 03885.

Maggie, you were such a wonderful lady. Derek and I always enjoyed visits when we were came home to NH. We have some great memories of your trips here to go to Disney Vacation Club. You are now at peace and will be greatly missed.

Maggie sounded like an avid adventurist and because of that she lived a life of enjoyment. We are so sorry for your loss, she will be always in your heart.
