Margaret A. (Leonard) Roscoe, age 90, of Reading, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, March 15, 2026, at the Aberjona Nursing Center in Winchester. She was the beloved wife of the late Everett J. Roscoe.
Margaret was the cherished daughter of the late Percy and Anne (Ivey) Leonard. She was born in Medford and later moved to Reading, where she made her lifelong home. After graduating from high school, she married Everett, and the couple moved to Heidelberg, Germany, while Everett served in the military. Upon returning home, they settled in Reading, where they raised their family.
Margaret worked for many years as a paraprofessional in the Reading school system. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time vacationing in Terra Verde, Florida, where she developed lifelong friendships. She loved the ocean and later resided in Rockport. Margaret was an avid Boston sports fan and rarely missed watching a game. She also had extended family in Nova Scotia, Canada, whom she loved visiting. An enthusiastic reader, Margaret also greatly enjoyed watching movies.
Margaret’s greatest joy was her ever‑growing family. She is survived by her two daughters, Chris Carter and her husband Rick of Reading, and Lori Roscoe and her husband Stephen Smith of Lynn; and her son, Jim Roscoe and his wife Karen of Reading. She was the proud grandmother of Audrey (Pat) Kelly, Renee (Mike) Flynn, Scott Carter, Evan (Sara) Cutelis, Ryan Carter, Everett (Erika) Roscoe, and Caroline Roscoe, and the loving great‑grandmother of Maeve and Owen Kelly. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Margaret was predeceased by her three sisters, Lorraine Spurin, Joan Goding, and Shirley Leonard.
Margaret’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Shannon Grover for the compassionate and dedicated care she provided to their mother over several years.
Visitation will be held at the Douglass, Edgerley & Bessom Funeral Home, 25 Sanborn Street (corner of Woburn Street), Reading, on Thursday, March 19, from 10:00–11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private.

I had the absolute pleasure of having Margie as a client. I did her hair every Friday in Rockport. I always looked forward to seeing her. She will be dearly missed. I have never met her children. But she talked about all of you. I am so very sorry for your loss. Catherine Delisle

Margie and I go a long way back, starting with Pearl St. Elementary School, Old South UMC and many of our class reunions which she attended with Everett and alone after his passing. She was always a joy to chat with and has left a lot of memories for us all.
