Maria Arroyo

1929 - 2025

Maria was a devoted and loving mother to her eight children: Luisa, Dominga, Felipe (Maria) Petra (Jose), Marcelina (Nestor†), Rufino (Bernarda) Maria Magdalena (Sergio), and Bertha (Leopoldo). She was a proud grandmother to 22 grandchildren, a cherished great-grandmother to 26, and a great-great-grandmother to 3. Her family was her greatest joy, and she was fiercely loyal and deeply protective of those she loved.

Known for her strength, independence, and tireless work ethic, Maria embodied resilience and grace. She loved to travel the world and embraced life with curiosity and courage. Among all her travels, she felt especially proud and thankful that the most meaningful journeys of her life were her trips to the Holy Land, which she was blessed to visit several times. These pilgrimages held deep spiritual significance for her and reflected her profound faith.

Above all, Maria was a woman of deep faith—devoted to God and the Church—and her spiritual life guided her values and the way she cared for others.

Maria will be deeply missed and forever loved. She will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her strength of spirit, and the countless lives she touched through her kindness and devotion.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, 7812 N. Milwaukee Ave, Niles, Illinois 60714.

A Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 20, at 9:30 AM at St. Martha’s Church (small chapel), 8523 Georgiana Ave, Morton Grove, Illinois 60053.

Burial will follow at St. Adalbert Cemetery, 6800 N. Milwaukee Ave, Niles, Illinois 60714.
