Marilyn Mae Bennett Herec

1944 - 2019

Marilyn Mae Bennett Herec, age 75 of Copper Hill went to be with Jesus on Monday, October 14, 2019.  She was born March 18, 1944 in Buffalo, NY, daughter of the late Grover and Oleta Bennett.  She was the beloved wife of the late Alfred Herec.

Marilyn was originally from Tonawanda, NY.  She lived and worked in Lantana, FL for over 20 years before moving to Copper Hill, VA. 

Marilyn worked for Amanda Christianson State Farm Insurance Agency and loved her job. She was an avid sewer, quilter, gardener, knitter and beekeeper.

She was a member of Cave Spring Baptist Church and especially loved the ladies of her WOW Women’s Sunday School Class and they loved her in return.

She was the beloved mother of Allan Herec and wife, Di; sister of Barbara Hinchy and husband, Clarence; sister of Grover A. Bennett and wife, Donna. She was preceded in death by her brother Kenneth Bennett of California.

Marilyn is survived by a number of nieces and nephews and special friend, Jessica Gamble who resides in Florida. 

She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 18, 2019 from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 7:30 p.m. followed at that time by her funeral service with Pastor Jon Rice.  All of the services will be at Oakey’s South Chapel, 4257 Brambleton Ave., Roanoke, VA  24018.

Burial will be in Lake Worth Memorial Gardens in Lake Worth, FL next to her husband Alfred.
