Marilyn Jones Obituary

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that you make a donation to the charity closest to your heart.

Marilyn Jones was born on February 6, 1938, in the Bronx, New York, and passed comfortably and peacefully on March 22, 2026 in Boynton Beach, Florida.

Marilyn was a talented seamstress and a true master of crafting and design. She had a love for life’s simple pleasures and joys, including reading, movies, bingo, card games, traveling, ice cream, Chinese buffets, and visits to Red Lobster. She enjoyed time at the casino, generously donated blood, and proudly volunteered at the polls. Marilyn was deeply proud of being born in the Bronx and of her Sephardic heritage.

One of six children born to Sophie and Morris Benaderet, Marilyn met the love of her life, Bill, and they were married in 1955. Together, they raised five children in New Jersey and New York before eventually settling into the snowless sunshine of Florida.

Marilyn was predeceased by her beloved husband Bill; her daughter Elaine; her sisters Dora and Vicky; her brother Dave; and sister-in-law Yvonne.

She is survived by her daughters Debbie O’Rourke and spouse Joe, and Sheryl VanKuyk and spouse Artie; her sons Roy and Mark; and her sisters Ricky and Renee. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren: Billy VanKuyk, Michelle VanKuyk, Nikole O’Rourke, (Chris), Tara O’Rourke, (Derek), TJ Reese, (Michelle), Robbie Reese, Jon O’Rourke, (Morgan), Heather Jones, (Chris), Matthew Jones, and (Kim); two beautiful great-granddaughters, Ellis O’Rourke and Rayla Jones; sisters-in-law Mayola Danner and Sandy Snyder, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews throughout New York, Florida, and Pennsylvania.

Marilyn will be remembered for her creativity, generosity, devotion to family, and the warmth she brought into the lives of all who knew her.
