Martha J. Miller

1944 - 2026

Martha J. Miller, age 81 of Nappanee, IN, passed away at her home at 7 pm on Saturday, March 28, 2026 after a battle with cancer. Martha was born on May 21, 1944 in Etna Green to Jonas V. and Nancy (Slabaugh) Yoder. On March 4, 1965, Martha married Walter D. Miller.  She was a member of the Old Order Amish Church (District 88-1) and lived her entire lifetime in the Nappanee area. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Walter D. Miller of Nappanee; 3 sons: Lewis (Linda) Miller of Goshen, Nelson (Charlene) Miller of Nappanee, and Jesse (Margaret) Miller of Nappanee; 2 daughters: Pauline (Keith) Schwartz of Milford, and Keturah (Perry) Miller of Nappanee; 25 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law: Elizabeth “Lizzie” and Lamar Hochstetler of Nappanee. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Jonas V. and Nancy (Slabaugh) Yoder, 4 brothers and sisters-in-law: Edwin and Edna Yoder, Ivan and Wilma Yoder, Melvin and Barbara Yoder, and Elmer and Carolyn Yoder; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law: Edna and Edwin Helmuth and Mary and Levi Chupp; and sister-in-law, Barbara (Edwin) Yoder. Visitation will be held after 2 pm on Monday, March 30, 2026 and all-day Tuesday, March 31, 2026 with a funeral service beginning at 9:30 am on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, all at the Keith Schwartz residence (4791 W 1350 N Milford, IN 46542). Burial will take place in West Union Center Cemetery.
