Marva Jurdine Obituary

Services will be held Saturday, September 10th at 12:00 noon at the Riverhills Church of God, 6310 E. Sligh Avenue, Tampa, FL. Pastor Al Wolever with Pastor Tom Smith officiating. Entombment at Myrtle Hill Cemetery will be take place on Saturday.

Marva May Jurdine Nee Moodie born May 27, 1955 in Kinston Jamaica. She attended Withfiled Primary school, completed secondary education at Waulgrove College. She also attended Fitz Henley Commercial School where she majored in Accounting.

She migrated to the United States in 1975 and resided in New Jersey where she married and had a daughter, Tahayya.

She relocated with family to Tampa Florida, and started working at University Community Hospital as a Unit Secretary. While she worked in that capacity, she expanded her knowledge base juggling school and taking care of her family. She obtained her Associate Degree in Science from Hillsborough Community College after which she matriculated at the University of South Florida with a bachelor's degree in Management of Information Systems. She later obtained her Master's Degree in Business Administration from Saint Leo University. Her last position at was in the Information Systems Department for Clinical Informatics as Clinical Information Systems Analyst.

Church life was a very intricate part of her life from early childhood, beginning with Beeston Street New Testament Church of God in Kingston Jamaica, and later River Hills Church of God, Kingdom Bible Fellowship, and Fountain of blessing churches in the United States.

Some of Marva's church activities included, performing plays, and was famous for reciting poems as a child. Other church activities were working with children and teaching them songs. These children would sometimes accompany her to the various nursing homes where they all performed for the residence which made her very happy. Additionally, she would sing on the choir, conducted praise and worship, and sometimes delivered the message.

Marva loved and respected her parents and grandparents.
From early childhood, she was helpful to them without coerced. Consequently, she developed her communication and organizational skills. We had a family business, and one occasion, one of the stores had a lot of customers and Dad Panicked. Marva said, "Papa, I will take care of it, don't worry" and with her capable self she did.

Marva, wanted to make more contribution to society, and was deeply devoted to helping others in their walk in life, so she gave inspirational speeches at various outreach centers encouraging women who are abused, discouraged, divorced, etc.

She had very effective people skills and developed rapport with people very easily. She was an inspired woman, very independent, not easily swayed, had very strong opinion, and not afraid to voice them; she only wanted the best.

Marva is survived by daughter Tayahha, sisters, brother, nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews, one uncle, cousins and extended family, UCH family, and

Yes, today 5/27/2012 would have been another Birthday for you Marva, just a few days after mine - but by God's command it is different - when he called you home and we all know that is fine.
Just could not let this day past without remembering ...and hope to see in that that "sweet by & by".

It's been three weeks and four days, since you've left us, and it's still so hard to believe your gone. You knew me before I knew myself, you celebrated my life before I even knew the meaning of a celebration. You hugged me, kissed me, and prayed for me so much in the many years I've known you as my aunt, and even before I knew you were my aunt. I want to thank you for being the aunt you were here to me on this earth. I will always keep you in my heart, and as soon as I can I'm going to donate to the cause of finding a cure for Cancer. Love you Auntie Marva, and I will continue to work hard and accomplish my goals, like you would've wanted me to. See you in Heaven one day, but not too soon because I have a lot to do.
Love Always Your Niece,
Shanovah Moodie

I got to know you through your demonstration of faith by sharing a little time each week in prayer at the hospital chapel. I feel blessed to have known such a faithful warrior. Although we feel sorrow in missing your presence here, we should all rejoice in the fact that JOY is coming in the morning when those that love the Lord will be reunited with Him. So friends and family do not weep like there is NO hope! May the promise of His rewards in heaven bring comfort to us all.

May your family

From the first moment I met you, I was blessed. You have been an amazing friend and sister in Christ through out the many years we share. God saw you getting tired, when a cure was not to be, so He wrapped His arms around you and whispered "come to me" You did not deserve what you went through, so He gave you rest. God's garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best and when He saw you sleeping so peaceful and free from pain, He could not wish you back to suffer.May your love for one all continues to live on. You will be greatly missed by your family and friends. Love Always. Friends forever!!!!
