Marvin Dale Shelton of Clermont, Florida passed away on
October 30, 2025 after battling cancer for nearly three
years.
Dale was born on July 3, 1953 to June and Marvin Shelton
in Detroit, Michigan. After graduating from high school
in Michigan, Dale joined the United States Navy and
served his country during the Vietnam war. After his
honorable discharge from the Navy in 1975, he went on to
serve in the Naval Reserve until 1979. After leaving
the service, he held various jobs and finally settled on
a career as a Radiologic/CT Technician for the
last 30 years of his life.
In 2008, Dale met the love of his life, Susan Davis,
through mutual friends, Irvin and Debbie Caldwell, and
they were married in 2010.
Dale had a lifelong love of music and by the age of 13
was selling concert tickets in Detroit and sneaking
backstage to watch the shows. He and Susan shared a
passion for reading as well, that lasted throughout
their years together. He loved his NASCAR races and
actually worked on the track in Daytona for a short
time. He and his nephew, Michael, enjoyed
traveling to the races together and seeing them live
whenever they could. He was a tremendous animal
lover and always had pets in his home, usually of the
rescue variety. Dale loved his family and truly enjoyed
spending time with them as often as possible. He had
many close friends who will miss him dearly.
Dale is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Susan;
two daughters, Jenny Shelton St. John and Sara Shelton
Mathes; granddaughters, Ava and Arienette, and grandson,
Tanner; brother, Michael; sister-in-law, Lynn; nephews,
Michael Robert, Matthew and MacPherson.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 31, 2026, 1pm at Becker Funeral Home.

We were neighbors of he and Susan in Clermont until 2020.
I have a daughter, now 15, who is obsessed with animals, especially “puppies and kitties.”
Every chance she got she wanted to go see them and their cats.
Halloween was always a special treat for her as Marvin and Susan not only invited us in every year (as if they could stop this headstrong daughter of mine) but they also were always the most generous of all neighbors and gave out the best candy!
Childhood memories like these are priceless!
We are sorry to hear of his passing and want to send our love and hugs to Susan and all those he loved and cherished and who loved Marvin.
Thanks for the fond memories. Rest in peace big guy. And may you be surrounded by all of your rescues and pets that have patiently waited for you at the Rainbow Bridge.
Tricia and Katelyn Goulstone, former neighbors at Southern Villas, Clermont, Florida

, I am so sad to hear of the passing of Dale! He was such a loving husband, and every picture I saw of him he always was cuddling with an animal. You guys were such a great couple and you seemed to always be so happy. I am so sad for your loss and I wish you all the peace in your heart and know that I am thinking about you.
Love, your friend Sheri
