Mary Ellen Doty

1938 - 2014

Mary Ellen Doty, 76, of Mokelumne Hill, CA, passed away Friday, February 7, 2014. She was born in Monroe, MI on February 5, 1938 to the late Robert and Anna (Bolton) Lutz, the youngest of six children. Mary helped on the family farm and attended the Methodist Church. She and her family were very active in the Grange and 4-H. Mary married Robert Dean Doty on December 28, 1958 in Almagorda, NM. She graduated from a business college and worked as an executive secretary for Convair Aircraft Company in New Mexico. While raising her three children she helped put Robert through college. Mary worked on staff at UC Davis as a word processor. After retirement she spent her spare time researching family history as a genealogist and was an active member of the Calaveras Genealogy Society. Mary is survived by her husband, Robert Doty of Mokelumne Hill; daughter, Audrey Greene and her husband, Brian of Glencoe, CA; sons, Lawrence Doty and his wife, Rachel of Lompoc, CA, Dale Doty and his wife, Rachele of Fair Oaks, CA; 5 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. Friends are invited to attend a celebration of life at Daneri Mortuary Chapel in Jackson, CA, at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, February 14, 2014. Interment will be in the Sacramento Valley VA National Cemetery in Dixon, CA.
