Mary Harrison Garner was born to the late Issac Harrison and the late Luvenia Brown Harrison in Latta, South Carolina. She was predeceased by her brother Otlis Harrison, her sisters Ida Mae Greene and Rebecca McEachern.
In her youth, Mary met and was happily married to Robert Lee Garner (deceased) of Greensboro. From this marriage of 68 years, seven daughters were born: Debra Barham of Greensboro, NC, Luvenia Garner of Fort Lee, NJ, Pamela Anderson of Covington, GA, Tamilyn Washington of Greensboro, NC, Sharenn Chatman of Southfield, MI, Saundra Garner of Greensboro, NC and Syble Davis of Greensboro, NC.
God led her to join Mills Branch Church of Latta, South Carolina before joining Shiloh Baptist Church of Greensboro, NC.
Mary graduated from Maco Beauty College. She worked in multiple beauty salons, sharpening her craft. She also served as a Caregiver for many years before opening her own Beauty Salon where she devoted her time and excellence to her clients for decades. Mary enjoyed attending church with family, cooking, gardening, listening to music and caring for family. She will be remembered for her unconditional love, and her kind and generous spirit.
Mary departed this life on Wednesday, November 6, 2025. She made her transition in God’s grace with a look of complete peace and resolve.
She leaves to celebrate her life: 1 brother, James C. Harrison and family, 7 children, 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, 4 sons-in-law, John W. Barham, Andrew Anderson, Justin Washington and Robert Lee Chatman, and a host of relatives and friends.
A public viewing will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025 in the Goldie Hargett Memorial Chapel, 905 E. Market Street, Greensboro from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
A homegoing celebration will be held on Friday, November 14 in the Goldie Hargett Memorial Chapel; visitation with the family begins at 11:30 am followed by the service at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow in Carolina Biblical Gardens, Jamestown, NC.
