Mary Elizabeth Humphries

1945 - 2026

Mary Humphries joined her soulmate Lee Humphries in Heaven February 20, 2026. Born in Kentucky on December 8, 1945, to Virgil and Bessie Cook and she is survived by 2 of 11 siblings, Connie Sue Cook and Tommy Cook (Sandy). She has left behind her three children, Dawn Kilgore (Earnest), Troy Humphries, and Joe Humphries (Brooke), and Seven grandchildren and Seven great grandchildren.

During her life Mary traveled the country from coast to coast with Lee before he was discharged from the Navy in Jacksonville, Florida in 1970. While in Florida in 1971 they welcomed twin girls but only one survived (Dawn). They moved to Texas in 1973 and in 1974 they welcomed their first son Troy in 1974 and in 1981 they welcomed their second son Joe. 

During her life in Texas they were active with Summit Methodist Church in Marshall, as well as Cub Scouts, Webelos, and Boy Scouts. She was also known as the Candy Lady of her children's school PTA.

Mary made friends everywhere she lived and worked, and she touched lives through her cooking and baking skills and love for life.
