Mary Jane Knapke, age 77, of Maria Stein, Ohio, died peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2025. She was born on July 5, 1947 in Piqua, Ohio to the late Ferd & Marie (Kuether) Fleckenstein. She married Louis Knapke on June 7, 1969 and he preceded her in death in January 2001. She is survived by her children: Leah & Brent Avera, Centerville, Jeff & fiancée Annie Saintignon, Maria Stein, Laura & Tom Feltz, St. Henry, Dan & Amy Knapke, Piqua, Mark & Stephanie Knapke, Centerville, grandchildren: Ellie & Mia Avera, Aidan, Nathan & Carson Feltz, Leander Knapke, Theo Knapke, Kylie & Garret Knapke, great grandchildren: Kamden & Lilly Moorman, siblings: Ted & Linda Fleckenstein, Carol Fleckenstein, Doris & Tim Hoying, Sara Cotterman, Ann & Bill Thieman, in-laws: Don Clune, Rita & Bob Niekamp, Thomas Knapke, Ivo & Pam Knapke, Ann & Dave Long, Emily & Charlie Flanagan. She was preceded in death by a son Steven Knapke, siblings: Ralph Fleckenstein, Patricia Fleckenstein, Alice Clune, in-laws: Tim Cotterman, Rosie & Tony Fullenkamp, Jerry Knapke, & Michael Koesters. Mary Jane was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Maria Stein, the Knights of St. John Auxiliary, an RCIA instructor, Eucharistic Minister and a volunteer at the Shrine of the Holy Relics. She loved playing cards, riding bikes and following her grandchildren’s activities. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, May 15, 2025 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Maria Stein, Ohio. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster, on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 3 to 7 PM and on Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 9 to 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Everheart Hospice and the Shrine of the Holy Relics, Maria Stein. Condolences may be left at www.hogenkampfh.com.

I wish to extend my sympathy to Mary's family. Mary was such a wonderful member of the RCIA team that we served on together. I will always remember her kind-hearted and compassionate nature and her smile.
