Mary Manley Porter of Barker, New York, passed away peacefully in Elderwood at Lockport on July 31, 2019. Born in Lyndonville, NY on December 13, 1926, Mary was the daughter of Edna Hare Manley and Homer J. Manley. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Arthur B. Porter, her brother-in-law, Gordon Porter, sister-in-law, Nancy Porter and in-laws, Burton and Ruth Porter. After their marriage in 1947, together they raised three children on the family farm on County Line Road in Barker, Marcia (Richard) Ray, Thomas (Sharon) Porter, and Douglas (Lenilyn) Porter.
Mary graduated from Lyndonville Central School and worked there as a secretary before her marriage. She later became a full-time receptionist in the Barker Central High School office, and retired in 1986.
Mary was a lifelong member of County Line United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Womens group.
In addition to her children, Mary is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Charles Perry. Grandma Mary will be sadly missed by nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 3 great- great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Her caregivers at Elderwood were wonderful to Mary and she loved them all, as they did she.
Funeral arrangements are being made by Rutland-Corwin Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held Monday August 5 at the County Line United Methodist Church, 1385 County Line Road, Barker, NY at 11 am. Friends and family may visit the church beginning at 10 am. Following burial in the Somerset Cemetery, a luncheon will be served in the church hall. Memorials made be made to the County Line United Methodist Church, Barker, New York or the Barker Fire Department, Barker, New York

Mary Porter was a very great friend to our Mother, Helen Moss, when they both were residents of Elderwood (formerly Odd Fellows & Rebekah). We will miss them both a lot.

Sincerest Sympathy to all of Marys family in the passing of a very dear special person. She was a wonderful neighbor and friend to our Mom . And will always be remembered as a cheerful sweet lady. God Bless and comfort you all with His love. Am so sure they are sharing lots of wonderful times and memories in Heaven.
