Mary Constantinide Wright

1952 - 2026

Mary Constantinides Wright, 73, passed away on March 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born on September 8, 1952 to the late Luke and Anna Constantinides in Portsmouth, Virginia. Mary was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Wright and brothers George and Andrew Constantinides. 

Mary graduated from Churchland High School in 1970. She devoted her life to her family as a homemaker and was a truly remarkable mother to her children, Anna and Michael. Her home was always full of warmth, laughter, and love; welcoming not only her children’s friends but anyone who walked through her door. Many will remember her house as “the place to be,” made even more special by her incredible cooking.

Her greatest joy in life was her role as “Yiayia” to her beloved granddaughter, Avery Marie. Her eyes would sparkle at the sight of Avery, and the two shared an incredibly special and loving bond.

Mary is survived by her devoted children, Anna W. Piland and her husband Tim, and Michael Wright; her cherished granddaughter, Avery Piland; as well as many cousins and extended family members.

A Trisagion service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, at Foster Funeral Home, 1926 High St., Portsmouth. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 30, at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 7220 Granby St., Norfolk, with burial to follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Suffolk. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
