Mary Joyce Yungner

1937 - 2025

Mary Joyce (Van Orsdel) Yungner passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025, at the age of 88. She was born on May 1, 1937, in Green Prairie, Minnesota, to Cecil and Gladys (Ostrom) Van Orsdel. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers David, Douglas, and Darrell, and her sister Doris Jean (Jeanie) Almquist. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Alden; her sons Eric (Suzan) and Matthew (Natalie); and her four treasured grandchildren—Asher, Grant, Kate, and Gavin. After graduating from Little Falls High School, Mary moved to Minneapolis where she attended business school before marrying Alden and settling in Champlin, Minnesota. Together, they built a life filled with love, spending summers at their cabin on Big Sandy Lake and holidays with extended family. As her sons grew older, Mary worked part-time at Paper Warehouse where she liked helping and chatting with the customers. Mary enjoyed reading, watching golf, following the favorite sports teams of her kids and grandkids, and cheering for whichever team was playing against yours. She delighted in her neighbors and watching their kids grow up and even getting to know their grandkids. She especially loved visiting her grandchildren in Virginia and Colorado, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Mary was a member of First Baptist Church of Anoka for more than 50 years where she made life-long friends and served in a variety of roles. Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Anoka on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 10:30am, with visitation beginning at 9:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to your favorite charity in Mary’s honor.
