Maryann Vanecek Obituary

Maryann E. (Wellman) Vanecek, 83, of Nashua, NH passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH.

She was born in Flushing, NY on April 26, 1942, one of two daughters of the late William and Anna (Seibert) Wellman. Raised in College Point, NY, she was a graduate of St. Agnes High School.

After raising her children, Maryann worked as a receptionist for Jetro in NYC for many years until her retirement in 2004, when she and Donald moved to New Hampshire. She and “Grampy” loved to travel, taking many cruises to Bermuda over the years and taking the family to Orlando, FL and Hilton Head, SC on many memorable trips. “Nana” as she was known to her four grandchildren, loved to attend all of her grandchildren’s sports games and school events she could, cheering loudly from the stands.

In her free time, she enjoyed reading, being by the ocean, crocheting blankets for her children and grandchildren, and being with her family. She was strong in her Catholic faith and was a Eucharistic Minister for many years, in New York and New Hampshire, often visiting people in their homes to share Holy Communion.

Along with her parents, she was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 59 years, Donald J. Vanecek, Sr.

Surviving members of her family include her three children, Maryellen Vanecek, Donald J. Vanecek, Jr. and his wife Melinda, and Kathryn (Vanecek) Duffy; four grandchildren, Erin (Duffy) Boucher and her husband Brett, Thomas “TJ” Duffy and his partner Sarah Sevigny, Lauren Vanecek and Danny Vanecek; two great-grandchildren, Emma Vanecek-Manzano and Nora Boucher; her sister, Geralyn Clark; sister-in-law, Agnes Vanecek along with several nieces and nephews.
