Matthew James Ouimet of Chicago, IL suddenly passed away on May 27, 2025 at the age of 60.
Matthew (Matt) was born in Decatur, IL as the eighth child of eleven to Eileen and Edward Ouimet. Matt grew up in Chicago where he attended St. Thomas More Grammar School. Later, he moved with his family to Mundelein, IL, where he graduated from Mundelein High School.
Matt was the co-founder of Wemet Docket Management and spent most of his career managing litigation docket departments in various Chicago law firms. There, he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. In 2022, Matt moved to Florida to care for his mother. There, he quickly embraced the relaxing, sunny, and warm Florida lifestyle. He found joy in the simple pleasures of nature, especially watching the local turtles in the neighborhood.
As a lifelong sports enthusiast, Matt was a devoted fan of the Chicago Bears and White Sox. He also had a passion for golfing and traveling. Matt was always ready for a new experience or a relaxing day on the greens.
Matt is survived by his siblings Edward (Debra), Karen (Mark Rasmussen), Michael, Patrick, Mary, Daniel, Thomas (Tracie), Jane (Matt Willman), and Philip, along with 16 nieces and nephews and numerous cousins who adored him. He was preceded in death by his loving mother Eileen, father Edward, brother Kevin, and infant sister Ann.
Matt was genuinely loved by his family and friends due to his profound love for life, easygoing personality, and his authentic interest in others. He will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, wit, and the quiet strength in which he cared for others. Matt will be extremely missed. May his memories and spirit live on by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of Matt's life will be held at Santa Maria Del Popolo in Mundelein, IL on Thursday, June 5, 2025. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral mass will begin at 11:00 AM and burial will immediately follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Mundelein.

I worked with Matt when I first started out at Faegre as a new attorney, and he was always willing to help me out (and save me from countless mistakes). He was incredibly kind, hardworking, and never hesitated to lend a hand. He was so down to earth, and made me feel so welcomed. I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing, and I keep all his friends and family in mind during this difficult time. Thank you, Matt, for making a baby attorney feel competent and useful. You are dearly missed.

An ode to Uncle Snap:
Hidden in the expansive stands of graduation at State Farm,
Unlike his shiny dome in the San Francisco sun.
A fun loving man, silently supporting his loved ones with thoughtful charm,
“I’ll see you back in Chicago” he said, can’t stay I’ve got to run,
“Hopefully I’ll see you in heaven” I say, can once again rest my head on your arm.
P.S. I didn’t use chatbot to write this Uncle Snap, maybe I should’ve ;) I love and miss you.

Uncle Matt, thank you for being the funniest and most easygoing uncle I’ve ever known. There was never a time in your presence that wasn’t filled with laughter. I already miss you dearly.

What’s your 20?
Although a beautiful soul has been lost, we are blessed with the love Matt gave us and the hope he inspired. He will be with us in spirit always, and our greatest treasure is the wonderful memories of the fun and wonderful times we spent together, which we will cherish in our hearts forever.
Words can not express the heartache we feel for you and your family on the loss of your brother. We are saddened by your loss, and pray that you may find strength in the love of family, the thoughts and prayers of friends, and may God comfort you and give you peace.
With sympathy in this time of sorrow, you and your family are, and will remain, in our thoughts and prayers.
