Melissa Bonacorso Obituary

Melissa Ann Bonacorso, 56, passed away on March 3rd, 2022, with her son by her side in Kansas City, Missouri.

Leaving behind her son, Christopher Joseph Hampson, her father Robert Joseph Bonacorso, her sister Denise Bonacorso-Gregory, godmother Mary Bonacorso, and many cousins. Preceded in death by her mother Charlotte “Shatzy” Bonacorso, and godfather Phil Bonacorso.

Melissa was born on December 3rd, 1965, her parents Charlotte Lea Elving and Robert Joseph Bonacorso brought her to their home in the heart of Kansas City where she spent the first five years of her life. The Bonacorso family moved to North Kansas City into the North Brighton Townhouses, where Melissa would grow up, go to school and graduate from Winnetonka high school in 1984.

She spent her twenties surrounded by her family and friends living her best life loving and being loved by those around her. She would also later meet a couple lifelong friends Cristy Pacheco and Anne DeFeo Brewer, little did she know they would stick by her side until the absolute very end. She loved to travel and if it involved the beach, you could always count her in. Melissa lived to smell the ocean air and to feel the warm sand on the beach between her toes when the tide would crash in.

In her early thirties was married to Christopher William Hampson and had a son, Christopher Joseph Hampson. Melissa's pride and joy and her reason 'why'. Before ever thinking about work she stayed home with her only child and created a bond that God himself would have had a hard time breaking. They chased sunsets, jammed to music, ate seafood and went to the beach of course.

Throughout her late thirties and into her early forties Melissa spent her time raising her son and working as a leasing agent. She was a very loving and protective mother.

In 2021 she was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer and found support from her son Christopher and friend of the family, Dennis. She spent her last year of life at home knowing and trusting that God had a plan for her still hoping and praying this would not be the outcome. Melissa's family lost a mother, daughter, sister, godchild, cousin, and friend far too soon and she will be deeply missed.

So sorry for your loss. I moved to Florida several years ago. Sorry distance makes it impossible for me to travel for the service.
