Meliton M. Acoba

1936 - 2023

Meliton “Mel” Acoba passed away on June 7, 2023, at the age of 87, in Celebration, Florida. A long-time New Yorker, Mel and his wife relocated to Florida 24 years ago when they retired.

Originally from Manila, Mel trained as an architect and worked on projects in the Philippines, Africa, and across the United States. Mel met the love of his life and wife of 52 years, Gladys, while both were launching their careers in New York City. Together, they had one child: Francisco. Mel is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews in the United States and Canada.

Mel is the youngest son of the late Meliton Acoba Sr. and the late Epifania Maneja Acoba. He is preceded by Estrella Topacio, Valerio Acoba, and Nora Yango.

Visiting hours are from 1-5 pm on Sunday, June 11th at Becker Funeral Home in Clermont, FL. A funeral mass will be offered at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Monday, June 12th at 11am, followed by an internment at Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Salesian Missions at www.salesianmissions.org
