Melvin F. Hayden, 88, of Perryville died September 14, 2017.
He was born March 12, 1929 in McBride, MO, son of Joseph F. and Emma I. (Otto) Hayden. He and Vivian R. Barnes were married on October 6, 1951. She preceded him in death on February 2, 2015.
Melvin was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a dedicated farmer and loved it!!! He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and Holy Name Society in Sereno.
Survivors include three daughters, Sharon (David) Flavin of Maryland Heights, Renee (Robert) Buatte of St. Charles and Kimberly (Dale) Blechle of Perryville, two brothers and two sisters, Norman “Dude” (Ginny) Hayden and Roy (Ottolene) Hayden both of Perryville, Lawanna (Eldor) Mueller of Arnold and Iona Beckerman of Perryville, five sisters-in-law, Margaret (Peggy) Hayden, Ruth Hayden, Marie Hayden, Velma Hayden and Carroll Verseman, five grandchildren, Stacey, Stephanie (Horace), Kyle (Rachel), Brandon and Tory, three step grandchildren, three great grandchildren, Lillian, Hadlee and Scarlett and thirteen step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, Mark, six brothers, Joe, Harvey, Bill, Donald, Harold and Merlin “Dub” and one sister-in-law, Joan.
Visitation will be at Young & Sons Funeral Home on Monday, September 18 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm with a rosary at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, September 19 from 6:30 to 9:15 am. He will then be taken to Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Sereno for Mass at 10:00 am with Rev. Rich Wehrmeyer officiating. Burial Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to American Heart Association or Alzheimer’s Association.
