Miguel “Mickey” Antonio Rodriguez, 59, of Lowell went to be with our Lord on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA after an unexpected illness.
He was born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico on April 2, 1959 to a large and loving family. Having lived in Puerto Rico, Chicago, and Lowell MA, Mickey made friends far and wide. He enjoyed many sports such as fishing and boxing. He was an avid music fan and always carried his favorite Salsa CDs wherever he went. He was very caring giving, and family oriented.
He loved attending big family celebrations and parties and would always want everyone to get the perfect picture of him that captured the moment. He was also a regular at Rancho Tipico and loved to go on outings for some of his favorite foods. He never missed a Puerto Rican festival and had immense pride in his island. What he loved most was his family. With his gentle giant smile, deep robust belly laughs and his big bear hugs, he could show affection like no other. He was lovingly referred to as Tio Mickey by many of us who loved him and will miss him dearly.
Miguel was preceded in death by his mother Eladia Febus- Alejandro (Mama Yaya); his father Jesus Rodriguez; and his three brothers Juan, Daniel, and Carmelo Rodriguez. Ill never forget Miguel and his bright smile. Ill always carry in my heart his heroic gesture on Church Street where he placed himself between my car and a ladys car going in the wrong direction opposite me. Some people you just keep in your memory and heart forever.
