"Loving Sister and Aunt"
Miss Mildred Mecca, 101 of 27 Cedar Ave. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at her home in the presence of her loving sister.
Mildred was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 22, 1913. The eldest of five children of the late William and Marguerite (Santasiero) Mecca, she helped raise her four younger siblings. She graduated from Post Business School and worked as a hairdresser.
Mildred is survived by her brother, Anthony Mecca of Waterbury formerly of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a sister, Catherine Rocco, with whom she lived of Waterbury, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Leonardo and Antonio who died during the Influenza Epidemic of 1918 on the same day, and Domenic and Leonard Mecca.
Arrangements: A Mass of Christian Burial of her cremains will be held Tuesday January 13 at 11 a.m. at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main St. Waterbury. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Everyone is kindly asked to meet directly at the Basilica. Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway has been entrusted with the arrangements.
