Mildred Morris

Mildred Morris, age 91, formerly of Piedmont, passed away Friday, October 31, 2025 at the Unity Point Health-Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born January 23, 1934 in Brunot, MO, the daughter of John and Etta May (Burnham) Morris.

A long time resident of Piedmont, Mildred worked for many years at Walmart and had attended Friendship Baptist Church in Piedmont.

She was married to Donald Garbison February 21, 1954 in Patterson and he passed away in 2015. She was later married to Alfred Hassell September 22, 1992 at Greenville, MO and he passed away September 8, 2016. Also preceding her in death are her parents, John and Etta May Morris. The last of a family of 14 children, she is also preceded in death by 8 brothers, Clifford "Doc", Donald, Charlie, Elmer, Fayte, Dick, Bill and John Morris, and by 5 sisters, Viola McAlister, Edna Reed, Edith Morris, Rose Morris and Ruth Tinsley.

Survivors include 4 children, Ann Drish and her husband Fred, of Milo, IA, Jon Garbison, of Milo, IA, Irving Garbison and his wife Tracy, of Fulton, MO and Kay Garbison, of Fulton, MO.

In addition, she is survived by 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and other family and friends.

Visitation was held at 12:00 PM November 8, 2025 at the Morrison Funeral Chapel in Piedmont. Funeral services followed at 1:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home chapel with Bro. Don Hutto officiating. Special recorded songs were played for the service with Jason Drish, Matthew Drish, Samuel Drish, Josh Garbison, Andy Brauner, Zach Brauner, Tony Garbison, and Jacob Garbison serving as pall bearers.

Interment was in the Patterson Cemetery.
