Mitchell Borowiec Obituary

Agawam- Mitchell “Mitch” Thomas Borowiec, 83, passed away on May 13, 2024, surrounded by his four children.  Born to the late Maximillian and Stella (Jablonski) Borowiec.  When Max passed away, Stella married Theodore P. Krol, who helped raise Mitch, along with his own son Teddy.  Mitch was a graduate of Chicopee High School (1957) and went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree from UMass Amherst and his MBA from AIC.  He started his career with Connecticut Bank & Trust, and later holding several senior operations positions with Sears, Roebuck & Co., Forbes & Wallace, Lou Dramin, and Tru Green.  Some of his happiest days were spent working at his father’s Meadow Street garage, where he met and sold a car to the love of his life, his wife of 33 years, Gail Elizabeth (Deely) Borowiec.  He was most proud of his greatest accomplishment in life, the family he and Gail raised together.  In addition to his parents, Mitch joins his late wife, Gail, who predeceased him in 1995, along with a son-in-law, Chris Asselin and 2 grandchildren, Jack Thomas and Meghan.  He is survived by his children, Susan Restivo (Tony), Chris Borowiec (Jeannine), Lynn Asselin, and Katie O’Connor (Kevin); his 11 grandchildren, Nick (Katie), Vinnie (Danielle), Ruthie (Marquez), Garrett (Jennifer), Abigail (Nicholas), Weston, Carson, Taylor (Sid), Madison, Hannah, and Lily; 9 great-grandchildren, Anthony, Sophia, Hunter, Penny, Ember, Lily, Kai, Charles, and Casey.  Mitch is also survived by his brother, Teddy Krol (Mary), along with several nieces, cousins, and special friends.  Mitch always told his kids, “Just do your best.”  These simple words have helped them to overcome obstacles in their lives.  In his later years, Mitch would often remark, “We really did have a good life.”  The family wishes to thank the staff at Heritage Woods for their kindness and care during Mitch’s final years.  A donation in Mitch’s memory can be made to St. Jude Childrens’ Hospital (www.stjude.org) or simply offer a silent prayer for a loved one.  All services will be held privately, per Mitch’s instructions.  Corridan Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.  www.CorridanFuneral.com

I used to play with Mitch (Maxie) when we were kids in the 50's. Good young boy, later, good man. Rest always, Maxie.

My stepbrother was more than just Mitch, he was my brother; he was a friend, a confidant, and a source of strength in my darkest times. His kind heart and infectious laughter brought light into my life.

He had a unique way of making me feel special and loved. His compassion knew no bounds, and he was always there to lend a helping hand or offer a listening ear. His presence was a gift, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.

Through the memories we shared and the stories we will continue to tell, his spirit will live on forever. His legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will serve as my guiding light.

May his soul find peace, and may we find solace in the cherished memories we hold dear.

Rest in peace, dear brother. You will be missed, but never forgotten.

Love, Tad Krol

Ted and Stella Krol were my aunt and uncle, and I have childhood memories of holiday and summer picnics at Bacci and Dziadiu's house as a child with Mitchell. With sympathy.

My grandpa was so loved and will be deeply missed by many friends and family. I find comfort knowing he is reunited with my grandma Gail.

I am Theodore (Ted) Krol's nephew. I knew Mitchell (Maxie) in our childhood. He was ALWAYS kind, soft-spoken, and loved to laugh. I knew him both in childhood & adulthood. He never changed...always a gentleman. I will miss him.
