Mona Torres Obituary
Mona Lisa Torres, 58, of North Platte, NE passed away on June 4, 2021, at Great Plains Health surrounded by her loved ones. On this day many of her friends and family made their way to say “good-bye” to Mona as she was dearly loved by her family and friends. She was born on March 12, 1963, to Tony Torres Sr. and Josephine Torres (Torrez) at Memorial Hospital here in North Platte.
Mona grew up and went to school in North Platte graduating with the class of 1983. Mona had a passion to take care of people and for about 20 years she worked as a nursing assistant working in long-term care facilities. After Mona took on a couple of jobs, due to crippling hands she could no longer work.
She was always the life of the party and loved to have a good time. Always bright, eccentric, and wild is how she will always be remembered. Her wild spirit will be missed by everyone.
Mona is survived by her lifelong significant other, Ben Yates; mother, Josephine; little brother, Tony Jr.; little sister, Shirley; daughter, Leslie; sons, San and Blake (Vanessa) Suhr; grandchildren, Kianna, Cruiz, Aubriella, Azalea, and Freesia; step-grandchildren, Angelo, Fabian, Gerber, and Genesis; and many friends, aunts, uncles, and a whole slew of cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Tony Sr.; multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Pat’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, with a rosary at 10:00 a.m. followed by services at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Josh Brown celebrating. Burial will be at the Ogallala Cemetery next to her father, Tony Sr. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. Carpenter Memorial Chapel is entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences and sharing of memories may be directed to www.carpentermemorial.com.

Good morning to the friends and family of Mona! Seeing her obituary shocked me! Mona and I had some great times. Her and I worked(and first met) at Royal Colonial Inn in North Platte! We had some amazing times! She taught me how to be thorough and also brought out my sick sense of humor as we found "interesting" things cleaning rooms! She never showed her pain though! She loved to laugh and she wasn't judgemental toward me! I even went to church with her brother Tony! One thing I learned about her family...very loyal toward eachother! I'm sad your time on Earth is over Mona... but when I look up to the sky....I see a new beautiful angel! Rest in paradise beautiful life of the party!
