Monica Temple Obituary

Monica Latrice Temple entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 8th, 2020. She was born in Richmond, Virginia on April 13th, 1972, to James F. Carter Jr. and Christine D. Carter.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert and Leberta Anderson; grandparents James and Margret Carter; in-laws, Orgie Ree and Amos Temple; sisters-in-law, Melody T. Moore and Mable C. Washington; brother-in- law, Melvin S. Temple Sr; uncle and aunt, James and Jean Temple; uncle, Joe Ross.


Monica and Matthew Temple were married on August 12, 1994, and had three beautiful daughters together.


Monica graduated from King William High School in 1990. She also graduated from ECPI University in 1994. She began going to church at a young age. She was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, Oak Grove Baptist Church and Total Praise Worship Center. She wås serving as an Elder at Grace and Mercy Outreach Ministries until her passing. She was a long-time employee at Anthem Inc.


Monica was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, friend and much more. She was one with a heart of gold that gave her all to those she loved. Monica was a diehard Indianapolis Colis and Los Angeles Lakers fan. She loved purple, sewing, going to church and spending time with family and friends. Monica was also an excellent baker.


She leaves to cherish her memories her devoted husband. Matthew S. Temple: three devoted daughters, KaWanda S. Claggette (Chanlz), Kahea S. Temple and KaDedra S. Temple, one loving granddaughter, Loga K. Claggette, aka Shuggie, who she adored: two devoted parents, James Carter Jr. (Ray Lynn) and Christine D. Carter: five devoted brothers, Marvin I. Carter (Alicia), Jamie (Makeda) Carter, Troy Carter, Michael Carter and Kevin Carter; one devoted sister-in-law, Melissa M. Jackson; three devoted brothers-in-law, Mervin S. (Janet), Lorenzo Washington, and Thomas Moore Jr; one devoted Best Friend, Chantell Temple-Peatross (Kevin): two loving goddaughters, Chasity Coleman and Coi Temple. She also leaves to cherish her memories a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, relatives, and friends, devoted Chanetia Temple.

Monica will truly be missed. She had a quiet demeanor that calmed me more that once when discussing work. She loved life and the blessing the Lord had provided.
