Monroe T. "Fro" McKensie

1953 - 2025

On February 24, 2025, our hearts were saddened by the passing of our loved one, Mr. Monroe T. “Fro” McKensie. Monroe was  born April 30, 1953, in Dinwiddie County, VA, to the late Howard and Queen McKensie. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Howard and Lonnie McKensie of Petersburg, VA.  He was baptized at Marmora Baptist Church, Church Road, VA, at a young age.

He was  employed at SuperValue (Rich Food) as a truck driver where he dedicated many years of service before retiring in 2017.  After retirement he enjoyed nature where he spent most of his time, in the yard cutting grass, landscaping, and spending time with family and friends.

Monroe leaves to treasure his memory: his two daughters, LaTamara Claiborne of Petersburg, VA, and Sabrina Bishop of Petersburg, VA; five sisters, Julie Roberts and Elizabeth McKensie both of Petersburg, VA, Gloria Glenn of Petersburg, VA, Marie Clanton (Lawrence) of Dinwiddie, VA, and Queen Harrison (Franklin) of Chester, VA; one brother, Selester McKensie (Sandra) of Chester, VA; three grandchildren, Jahiem Hinton, Sapphire Kearse, and Savion Kearse; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Monroe also left behind a devoted partner, Kathleen Bishop who will forever cherish his memory.  Monroe also leaves a devoted friend, Hampton Mason.

Services will be held 3:00 P.M., Sunday, March 2, 2025, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Edward L. Fox III, eulogist. The interment will be held at The McKensie Family Cemetery.
