Services for Mr. Cecil Walley, Jr., age 78, of Sand Hill, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Jones and Son Chapel in Richton.  Mr. Walley passed from this life on July 5, 2025 at his residence.  Bro. Devin McIlwain and Bro. Brian Walley will officiate the service and burial will follow in Union Cemetery in Sand Hill.  Serving as pallbearers will be Channing Walley, Donald Walley, Brice Walley, James Walley, Ethan Walley, Chance Walley, and Caston Walley as alternate.

Mr. Walley was a devoted, hardworking family man.  He worked for many years as a pipe superintendent, primarily with KBR, where he was respected for his dedication and expertise. Outside of work, he found great joy in the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved spending time on the farm. His happiest moments were those spent with his grandchildren, whom he adored and never missed an opportunity to spoil.  A passionate Mississippi State football fan, he especially enjoyed cheering on the Bulldogs in person. He attended Lovewell Freewill Baptist Church, where he found spiritual grounding and community.

Mr. Walley’s legacy is one of hard work, deep love for his family, and a life well-lived in the simple joys of nature, football, and faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Gertrude Walley; sisters, Betty Rae Walley and Glenda Miller; and brother, Hughie Walley.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Carol Walley of Sand Hill; son, Gus (Atlanta) Walley of Lucedale; daughter, Samantha (Chris) Johnson of Mobile, AL; grandchildren, Zachary, Spencer, Nicholas, Dakoda, and Kady Brooke; great grandchildren, Zoe, Naomi, and Everly; brothers, Marion Oscar (Christa) Walley of Oak Grove, Elvin (DJ) Walley of Richton, Hubert Ray (Bonny) Walley of Richton, Russell (Melissa) Walley of Borger, TX, Steve Walley of Richton, Sam Walley of Hinton, OK; sisters, Elaine (Harold) Byrd of Richton, Virginia (Carlton) Brewer of Richton, Berniece (Allen) Walley of Richton, Sissy (Bill) Buhrman of Church Point, LA; and sister-in-law, Margaret Walley of Richton.

Carol, Cecil was such a good person and friend. I will truly miss him and I was so glad to see him
the last time you all were in Virginia. He made it well known how much he loved you and how proud he was of his children and grandchildren. I think about him often.

The Hoy family of the Augusta County area of Virginia welcomed Cecil into our family when he married our sister Carol Jean. They had Gus and later moved to Richton, Mississippi. We visited back and forth many times. Cecil always welcomed us into his home and made us feel very comfortable. Cecil worked hard to support his family. We will miss him.
