Mr. Hubert Robinson Obituary

A celebration of life service for Mr. Hubert James Robinson who passed on December 30, 2025, will be held on Saturday January 24, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church, 401 US 92 E. Seffner, Florida with Senior Pastor David Schmidt, Officiating and Dr. Roseilee Linton, Eulogist. There will be a viewing on Saturday from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. (1 hour prior to the service) at the church.  Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E, Hanna Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33610.

Hubert James Robinson was born in Larimers, Trelawny, Jamaica, to Lucille Davy and Arthur Robinson. In his early childhood, he moved to Harry Watch, Manchester, to live with his grandmother, Miss Bertha, who raised him with love and care.

He attended Harry Watch All-Age School and was a gifted student who once dreamed of becoming a dentist. Music was a lifelong joy; he had a melodious singing voice and was a member of the Harry Watch Missionary Church choir.  By trade, Hubert was a Master Mason, respected for his skill and for teaching many apprentices.

At church, he met his beloved wife, Hilda (“Baby D”). Their love spanned over 72 years. Together, they co-founded the Robinson’s Foundation, which has served the elderly and sick in Franklin Town, Kingston.

Hubert was the proud father of Clavell “Altie” Robinson, Claudette Mendez, Cherice Robinson, Roseilee Linton, Faith Robinson-Grinage, Gail Campbell, Alfred Robinson, and Adrian Robinson. He was also a cherished grandfather to 17 grandchildren, great-grandfather to 20, and great-great-grandfather to four. Hubert was known for his quiet strength, generosity, and deep faith. His home was always open, and he welcomed many into his life as family.

He is survived by his wife, Hilda; his children; his brothers, Vassell Brown and Kenneth Plummer; his sister, Marie Plummer; and a large and loving extended family.

“Daddy, your hands built many things, but your greatest work was your family. Your greatest gift was the love you gave.”

My grand-uncle Brother Rob was a classy fellow. He had a robust, elegant and distinct voice. His words were always respectful, thoughtful and kind and made me feel valuable and special to him and his family. His face was comforting and approachable with a ready smille full of the wisdom from life's experiences.

He never felt like my auntie's husband he was family "fi her peope was fi him people". I thank God for him and the testimonies of his life. Rest in peace my uncle you leave behind a rich legacy we will continue to learn from and enjoy...
