James was a very dear friend of mine for many years. Although hundreds of miles apart, we talked on a regular basis. Countless 10-minute conversations on my way home from town. Many long talks solving all the world's problems. I loved him greatly. He was always a lot of fun and a very good source for Godly advice and wise reflection. Everyone has been both “good” and “bad” at moments. But James seemed to be able to keep closer to the “good” end of things than most anyone I’ve met. I was constantly impressed with how he kept such a close watch on his relationship with the Lord. I hope I’ve learned to do half as well.
Thank you, my brother James, for always being a great friend, example, and mentor. My heart aches. You will be missed.
Your friend, Billy
