She’s in the sun, the wind, the rain, she’s in the air you breathe with every breath you take. She sings a song of hope and cheer, there’s no more pain, no more fear. You’ll see her in the clouds above, hear her whisper words of love, you’ll be together before long, until then listen for her song.
On the brisk, cool Spring morning of April 27, 2020, God entered the residence of Annie Lee Williams and decided that He needed a servant with a heart of rainbows and kindness. Annie Lee answered the call without hesitation and entered His holy kingdom at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg, SC.
Annie Lee was born on October 11, 1934 to the late Elijah and Clara M. Glover Bailey in Vance, SC. She was their only daughter and the apple of her daddy’s eyes. She attended the public school of the area.
Annie Lee was baptized at an early age at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church where she was a very faithful member. Annie Lee was a member of the Usher Ministry and the Combined Choir. Annie Lee was a lead singer during her younger days, and many can attest to the anointing of her voice. In 2017, Annie Lee was crowned Springfield Missionary Baptist Church “Woman of the Year”. Annie made sure that her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were baptized, attended church regularly, participated in Sunday School and joined a church ministry.
Annie Lee was married to the late James Williams,Sr. and to this union six children were born. During their marriage, Annie Lee was a housewife and a working mother. She was employed with Skyline Industry for many years before her retirement.
Annie Lee was a supportive mother and grandmother. She had a kind, gentle spirit with wings of love and protection covering her family and friends. Annie Lee was a dedicated sports fan and attended many football, basketball, baseball, and track meets as a proud grandmother cheering on her grandchildren at their various sports competition.
Many will remember Annie Lee because of the way she dressed. Every Sunday at church and everywhere she went, people admired her lovely hats and beautiful clothes. Always humble, she would only smile when complemented.
Annie Lee was predeceased by her loving parents, her husband, her oldest son, James Williams, Jr. and her youngest daughter Shelia Mack.
Annie Lee leaves precious memories with her supportive daughters, Shirley Wright, Peggy Williams and Patty Williams of Holly Hill and Betty Williams of Eutawville; two dedicated sons, Anthony Williams of the home and Jerome Stukes of Atlanta, Georgia; two brothers, Sanders Bailey and David Bailey of Holly Hill; one sister-in-law, Polly(Sammie) Green of Holly Hill; a special nephew, Rev. William Bailey of Jersey City, New Jersey; 25 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren, special friends, Minister Daisy Waring, Helen Wright, and Matilda Wigfall and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Please follow COVID-19 guidelines when visiting the family at 363 Lanier Rd, Holly Hill and at the funeral home.
