A celebration of life service for Mrs. Peggy Jean Russ (North) will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Wilson Funeral Home, 3000 N. 29th Street, Tampa, Florida at 11:00 a.m.
Mrs. Peggy Jean Russ (North), a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, peacefully passed on February 11, 2026, at the age of 79, surrounded by her devoted family.
Born on June 20, 1946, in Tampa, Florida, Peggy was born and raised in Belmont Heights, she was nurtured by her loving single mother, who instilled in her strength and resilience. Peggy had a true love for life and all its simple pleasures. A devoted foodie, she delighted in good meals and treasured any chance to get out and explore. Her warmth, joyful spirit, and love of togetherness will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Her unwavering faith and love for God were central to her life.
Peggy was predeceased by her loving husband, Willie Cleve Russ, Sr.; her daughter, Tonia Harris; her cherished grandson, Johnny Russ and her beloved sister, Eddie Jean (Pat) Howard.
Mrs. Peggy leaves behind precious memories that will be carried forward by her children, Willie Cleve Russ Jr. (Erica Williams), Helene Russ-Adebayo (Ade Adebayo), Twanda Russ and Verrce Harris. She also leaves behind a legacy of love in her grandchildren, Jason Russ, Jarvis Russ, Latoya Russ, Joshua Keenan, Arlicia Simmons, Allen Simmons, Alicia Adebayo, Adeanna Adebayo, Stacee Russ-Hollomon, Nayhkee Sesler Russ, Ashanti Russ, Mya Russ, Tyresse Russ, Willie Russ, III, Yanna Russ, Malik Russ and Terrell Russ; countless great grandchildren who will continue to honor her memory; siblings, Jesse Pope, Ronald North and other relatives and friends.
Together we will honor her memory, reflecting on a life well-lived and a spirit that will forever guide and inspire us. Perry Jean Russ, your love, laughter, and legacy will forever echo in our hearts. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace.
