Myria Campbell-Foster-Boldin
May 7, 1934 – September 25, 2025
Myria Campbell-Foster-Boldin, known to all as Myria Boldin, peacefully transitioned to eternal rest on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at the age of 91. She was surrounded by the immense love of her family at Springfield Memorial Hospital.
Born a twin on May 7, 1934, in Benton County, Beat 3, Mississippi, Myria was a daughter of the late Clyde Campbell and Ruby Elmore-Campbell. Her early life was shaped in Mississippi—in Ashland, Lamar, and Holly Springs—but her family soon migrated, settling in Chicago, Illinois, where she came of age. This Southern heritage and Midwest resilience forged the strong, loving woman she became. She grew up in a unique family environment alongside her mother's siblings, forming bonds so close that she and her only sister, Sarah, humorously referred to themselves as "Sister & Brother Cousins" to their extended relatives.
A Life of Service and Love
Myria built a distinguished career as a Food Service Employee and retired after several years of dedicated service from the Veterans Administration Hospital. Yet, her true legacy lies in the countless lives she enriched through service and love.
An active member of the church throughout her life, Myria earned the honored title of Mother of the Church at both the New Hope Baptist Church and The New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Springfield, Illinois.
Myria's deeply held belief that "DNA makes people related, but love makes us family" defined her life's calling. Her compassion and life experiences prepared her to become an exceptional Foster Parent. Over the years, she was recognized for her outstanding love and care for more than 20 children, many of whom remain an indelible part of her expansive, extended family to this day.
The Master Crafter
Though she dedicated her life to her family and faith, Myria was also a gifted artisan. While her hobbies were many, she became a master at crocheting, creating the most beautiful blankets and apparel, which she gifted to family and friends as tangible expressions of her love. These handmade treasures will serve as lasting reminders of her warmth and generous spirit.
Family Legacy
Myria has been reunited in peace with her parents; her sister, Sarah; her twin brother, who died at an early age; her beloved husband, Howard Boldin; and three of her sons: Willie Arthur, John Michael Sr., and Sherman Foster.
Her memory will be eternally cherished by her loving and devoted surviving children:
Gwendolyn Foster-Orr
Dwaine Foster
Clyde Howery Foster
She is also survived by two wonderful daughters-in-law who she considered true daughters: Isabel (beloved wife of her late son John Michael Sr.) and Latricia (wife of Dwaine, who also provided invaluable caregiving numerous times).
Myria was also blessed with one niece, Carolyn, and her children, Serenity and Harold, and their families.
Myria’s immense love continues to thrive through her large family tree, which includes her grandchildren: Ruby, Isabel Starr, John Jr., Lisa, Latasha, Nicole, Dwaine Jr., and Deion. She leaves behind 22 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other beloved relatives and friends.

To The Family Of Ms. Myria B
What a beautiful soul! We loved Ms. Myria. She was gifted with the crochet and made some very beautiful blankets & hats. She called us family and made us feel like it. I met her years ago through a mutual friend and we reconnected when she joined New Hope. Our condolences and continued prayers for strength for you all during this time.
