Nancy L. Finsness

1929 - 2023

We are sad to announce the passing of Nancy Langford Finsness of Swansea Massachusetts. She died at age 94 on September 29, 2023. Nancy passed away of natural causes at her beloved home with her family at her side. 

Nancy was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, daughter of Augustine and Marie Langford. She is predeceased by her former husband Stanley E. Finsness, who passed away in 1979 and her sister Elizabeth Corrigan, who passed earlier this year. She leaves her brother William P. Langford, currently of New Richmond, Wisconsin along with several nieces and nephews, two sons, Christopher W. Finsness of Pascoag, Rhode Island, Nathaniel L. Finsness (wife Mary) of Swansea, Massachusetts, granddaughters Rachael Simons and Danielle Beaulieu (husband Jonathan) and grandson Lucas S. Finsness (wife Amber). 

Nancy attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota, and a master’s degree in library science from the University of Rhode Island. Her career included many years of real estate sales and appointment as the town animal officer, both in Barrington, Rhode Island. In retirement, she enjoyed several years of delivering Yankee Swapper magazines to local convenience stores throughout southeastern Massachusetts.  

Nancy was a strong, independent woman, who enjoyed skiing, boating, crossword puzzles, multiple pets, classical music, antiquing and playing poker at several venues. In her later years, Nancy enjoyed time spent in her well loved waterfront home in Swansea. 

We invite friends and family to share a casual time of remembrance and celebration of Nancy’s life on October 15, 2023 at 1:00 pm at our/her home of 14 Riverview Avenue in Swansea. Refreshments will be served.
