Nanie Lou Sanders Obituary

Nanie Lou Sanders was one of six children born on February 18, 1922 in Olustee, Oklahoma to Eula Mae and John Barton Evans. She passed away April 10, 2016 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 94 years, 1 month and 22 days.

Nanie Lou grew up in the Olustee and Duke communities and moved with her family to Carter where she graduated 1942. She remained in Western Oklahoma where she raised her family. Nanie Lou attended college in Sayre for a couple of years before finding employment at the ASCS office. She later met and married H. W. (Harvey) Sanders at Sayre, Oklahoma on June 7, 1963. Nanie Lou served 33 years at the ASCS office until her retirement in 1977. After her retirement she continued to work at various places such as the sale barn and the syrup factory. Nanie Lou was committed to Lone Oak Baptist Church and also her family until her health failed. She also loved being a homemaker and looked forward to preparing big meals for family gatherings and holidays.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, grandson, Cary Hall and great granddaughter, Alexis Thornton.

The family suggest instead of flowers make donations to the Baptist Children's Home in Oklahoma City, OK or Lone Oak Baptist Church.

She is survived by her 2 daughters, Loretta Hall and husband, Gary, Elk City, OK and Diane Blackburn and husband, Tom, Moore, OK; 1 son, Van Coe and wife, Teresa, Washington, UT; 2 step sons, Jerry Sanders and wife, Carolyn, Sayre, OK and Wayne Sanders and wife, Shirley, Amarillo, TX; 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

I grew up north of Mrs. Sanders and when I was in grade school and jr. high myself and my friends would always go climb the big elm tree in her pasture. She is a very nice lady and I am happy that I had the pleasure of knowing her. God Bless her and her family.

My deepest sympathy to each of you. Many wonderful memories uncle Harvey and aunt Nana Lou growing up. She was always smiling and you couldn't help but smile!! Her sweet spirit will be truly missed but know uncle Harvey was there to welcome her home. May God's comfort hold each of you close.
