Nathaniel Lewis Obituary

Nathaniel Lamar Lewis ("Nate Dogg", "Natty Boo"), 37, a native of Prairieville, Louisiana was born to the union of Ivory Lewis and the late Johnny Lewis.  He received his wings on the evening of Saturday, July 18, 2020 surrounded by family and friends. Nathaniel was born at Earl K. Long Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and was considered the "miracle baby" because the doctors did not give him long to live.  But God blessed his mother (father) and family with 37 years of joy and happiness.  Nathaniel loved everybody and everybody loved him.

A walk through visitation will be on Saturday, July 25, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. with a service at 1:00 p.m. for FAMILY ONLY due to COVID-19 restrictions. Visitation and service will be held at New Life Christian Fellowship, 39215 Hwy. 929, Prairieville, Louisiana.  Pastor Kelvin Jackson will be officiating.

Nathaniel leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Ivory Lewis; sisters: Diane Stokes, Pam Ellis, Vanessa Foreman and Wilma Patterson; brothers: Johnny Dewayne Stokes, Lathern Lane, Lavalle Lane and Wayne Tillotson; aunts: Vanessa Davis (Merrill Davis, Sr.) and Patricia Watson; uncles: Roger Manning and Roman Manning; and a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for every act of kindness shown to them during this difficult time.  May God bless each and every one is their prayer.

Ms. Ivory and Family’,

My deepest condolences to you and your family as we all mourn the loss of Nat. As his teacher at DTHS, he made days brighter than they ever could have been. I am a better person having known such a sweet and innocent soul. I still think and and talk often of Nat! A photo of his at graduation remains framed in my classroom. I assure you, he will never be forgotten. I know that he’s been given his wings and he’s our angel in heaven. Praying for all of you during this difficult time. Love and prayers to you all!

Nate gave all who knew him
pure joy and much laughter! Of such, that will ring in our hearts and minds as long as life remains. He loved praising God in dance, and could play the tambourine like no other. He loved unconstitutionally; everyone was in some way related to him. He words choices would bring a smile or laughter: "get your mind right", "look a here", "that's my wife", "don't touch my stuff", and so many more, . We celebrated his 37th Birthday last month. I asked, "Nate, what do you want for your birthday"? He responded, "Cologne and Money" .
