Nikolaos Tatsis

   Nickolaos D. Tatsis, fell asleep in the Lord, on the 4th of March 2016 surrounded by his family.  He was preceded in death by his parents, The Reverend Dimitrios Tatsis and Presbytera Georgia, his sister in law, Sophia Tatsis and his loving daughter, Vivian Tatsis Stergiou.  He was born in Asimohori, Greece, on the 22nd of April 1933.  He served in the Greek Army for 2 years as a sergeant.  Nickolaos married his wife of 55 years, Anthoula, the 30th of October 1960.  They later emigrated to Charlotte, NC on the 20th of December 1969 with their children.  He began working at Tatsis Restaurant on North Graham Street and then became co-owner of Tasos Restaurant in the Radisson Plaza Overstreet Mall in uptown Charlotte.  Prior to his retirement, he owned and operated the Deli City Restaurant for 5  years. Nickolaos  enjoyed listening to Greek music and spending time with his family and friends.  He is survived by his wife, Anthoula; his son, Mike Tatsis; son in law, George Stergiou; his grandson, Elias Stergiou; his brothers: Peter Tatsis and his wife, Antonia, Tasos Tatsis, Angelo Tatsis and  his wife Avgoula,  all of Charlotte; sisters, Katerina Skourtis and Evthokia Siozios of Athens, Greece, Rev. Dionysios Tatsis and Presbytera Marianthi of Konitsa, Greece, and many nieces and nephews.  The family would like to thank Dr. John Holevas and all the specialty physicians involved in his care, and Novant Health Hospice and Palliative Care for providing such excellent care to Mr. Tatsis.   The Visitation will be  10:00 AM Monday the 7th of March 2016 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 600 East Boulevard, followed by the Trisagion and Funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.  Memorials can be made to Novant Health Hospice and Palliative Care and Holly Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral Building and Renovations fund.
