Attica - Noble Ray Bratcher Jr., 61, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at his home with family by his side after losing his battle with cancer.
Noble was born on April 7, 1964 at the Vermillion County Hospital, in Clinton, Indiana to the late Noble Ray and Marian I. (Davis) Bratcher Sr. Noble was raised in Attica, graduating from Attica High School in 1982. After graduation he entered the U.S. Army and made a career in the service, retiring from the U.S. Army on March 31, 2004. While in the service he received his BS in Criminal Justice from Concordia College. At the time of his retirement from the service he had attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.
After serving over 21 years and retiring, he worked at Plastipak and more recently at Accuity Brands Lighting in Crawfordsville, until his health worsened and he was no longer able to work.
Noble enjoyed being outdoors with hunting and fishing being his favorite activities. He enjoyed several trips to Alaska; he visited Disney World and Universal Studios.
Spending time with his family was very important. He shared stories of the adventures he experienced, including how he would catch the biggest fish. He kept a positive outlook, even during his difficult times trying to keep things light hearted with those around him. He was at times, AKA, Abe Lincoln, but never got the birth date correct. He said I always meant to look that up. He greatly enjoyed a family trip to Bennett Springs in Missouri earlier this year concerned with helping everyone catch trout in the rainy weather, visiting Fantastic Caverns and dining at Lamberts home of the throwed rolls the grandkids were convinced we should by the cabins at Bennett Springs and live there forever.
After 41 years of marriage, he leaves behind, to cherish his memory, his wife, Sherry Dawn (Schweitzer) Bratcher; two sons, Brandon (Amanda) Bratcher and Bradley (Maegan) Bratcher; seven grandchildren, Emma Bratcher, Ian Bratcher, Jacoby Bratcher, Harper Bratcher, Georgia Bratcher, Dwayne Bratcher and Jayden Sisson; a sister, Sherry Lee Sasin and niece Sierra N. White; several aunts and uncles. He’s forever in our hearts, but he’s gone fishing in heaven.
Friends may gather at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Sunday, January 4th, from 1:00 p.m. until the memorial service time at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Tami Mussche officiating. Military honors will follow the memorial service by the U.S. Army.
