Mrs. Norma Tyner Todd, age 86, of Garner, NC, formerly of Lumberton, NC, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, December 6, 2020, after an extended illness. She was born in Scotland County, NC on October 22, 1934 to the late William Thomas Tyner and the late Mollie Ransom Tyner.
Norma was a faithful attendee of Raft Swamp Baptist Church in Lumberton where she was active with church organizations, WOM and Son-shiners. She loved spending time with her family and friends, traveling, knitting, reading and loved mailing cards for every occasion. She enjoyed helping clients with her forty years of retail sales experience, working at Virginia Crabtree, Sunshine House and Sister’s Boutique.
She was married to her loving husband, Ertle Bowman Todd for sixty-seven years, who preceded her in death on June 28, 2019. She served as an Army wife for twenty-two years. Together, they shared five children, Rhonda Prevatte of Goldsboro, Janice McGuirt (David) of Lumberton, NC, Sandra T. Walker (Lewis) of Garner, NC, Timothy B. Todd of Lumberton, NC, and Tony Todd of N. Myrtle Beach, SC; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is also is survived by two siblings, Nadine Haydon and Kenneth Tyner.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ertle, and her brother, Rabon Tyner.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at 2:00PM at Raft Swamp Baptist Church in Lumberton with Rev. Mark Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton.
