Norman Lockart Obituary

Mr. Norman Lockhart, age 73, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 26, 1951, in Raleigh North Carolina, Norman was the adopted son of the late Luzette Lockhart Wallace.

Norman was a dedicated husband of his wife of 49 years Linda Lockhart, loving father of his children, Nolan (Chanell) Lockhart, Genese (Shamaal) Lockhart Smith and Laurice (Nelson) Lockhart Sosa. He was grandfather of Jedidiah, Ariel, Nariyah Lockhart, Apria Smith, Nelson, Xavier and Roman Sosa.

Norman (Top) had reached the peak enlisted rank of Sergeant Major serving 33 years in the United States Army. He was also Captain of the Fort Lee Gate Guard. He always held a position of leadership in any endeavor the Lord placed him. Norman’s adventurous occupation also led him to travel extensively all over the world, experiencing different cultures while exposing his family to cherished and diverse memories.

He was Alpha male with a meticulous attention to detail while leading men with a highest degree of integrity. Norman’s passion for his work was evident by the lives of the numerous people he touched, leaving a lasting impact on the communities he served. - Outside of work, Norman was a carpenter with an expertise in architecture, wood work, electricity, and plumbing. Gifted in the craft of his hands his projects touch and aided the lives of many.

He was a yard man with a deep love for nature and enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardens and afternoon rain showers. He was an ambitious painter with a love for oil, acrylic, chalk and pencil art creating many pieces of art. His favorite instrument was the organ and had longed to play one day.

Above all, Norman will be remembered for his kind heart, giving nature, unwavering dedication to his wife and his desire to seek after the Lord. His smile could disarm any offense, his laugh made strangers feel like family. Never did he hide his face from offering support, guidance, and a listening ear. The only thing bigger than his 6’9 frame was his sense of humor and passion to provide for his family.

Norman’s presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. We long for the day where we will share a table with him in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ
