Norman's Obituary

SHERMAN- Norman L Neckers, 101, of Sherman, passed away peacefully at his home with family at his side on Saturday, May 3, 2025, following a brief illness. He was born May 17, 1923, in the Town of Mina, NY, the son of the late Earl John and Lena F. Shippee Neckers.

     Norm was a 1940 graduate of Sherman Central School. He was a dairy farmer. He enjoyed reading, when ever he had time, working in his vegetable gardens, doing crossword puzzles, woodworking, and creating things for his family such as homemade water bikes for their pond, windmills, bows, toboggans, and porch swings. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

     He is survived by his 5 children, Nancy (Jerry) Meerdink, Leonard (Sue) Neckers, Linda (Joe) Bittinger, Audrey (Doug) Sliker, and Eileen (Tom) Sparling, eight grandchildren, Carl (Mary Jo) Neckers, Scott (Willowe) Neckers, April (Rick) Pratt, Steve (Jan) Bittinger, Jeremy (Monica) Meerdink, Carolyn (Christopher) Hughesman, Ben (Ashley) Meerdink, and Jonathan (Sandy) Meerdink, twenty-one great grandchildren, Kelsey Neckers, Dylan Neckers, Corey Neckers, Rocky (Megan) Owens, Garrett Owens, Travis Owens, Carl Joseph Neckers, Rose Neckers, Holly Neckers, Cassandra Olsen, Caleb Pratt, Olivia (Keean) Meadows, Megan Saunders, Hunter (Belle) Bittinger, Jada (Nik) Fieler, Joey Bittinger, Garrett Meerdink, Zadok Hughesman, Keturah Meerdink, Norah Meerdink, and Ariana Meerdink, five great-greatgrandchildren, Ensley Bittinger, Kobe Pratt, Christopher Higley, Wesley Geer, and Lennyn Owens, and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 11AM on Monday, May 12, 2025, at the North Clymer Community Church (7795 NY-474, Panama, NY 14767). The Rev Kevin Costner and Rev. William Blair will officiate. Burial will be in the Mina Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the funeral (10AM-11AM), at the church.
