Norman Totten Obituary

Norm was born in Santa Cruz, California to Grace Emeline Webb Totten and Alvin Herbert Totten and raised in the Capitola/Soquel area.  His family were solid, independent, patriotic Americans and he sustained those values all the days of his life.

In 1954 he married Reverie.  Together they shared a life of love, devotion and respect for one another.  They raised two daughters, Nikki Ann Totten Higgins and Gail Jean Totten Delucchi.

He worked in the steel fabricating and drywall industry in San Jose, California for many years.  He and Rev traveled extensively to wonderful places, had many adventures, and he loved their sailboat, “September.”

After retirement, they moved to Amador County and he got his contractor’s license, spending years working on many projects, taking pride in everything he did.

Norm was a natural master craftsman who could achieve any goal that he selected for himself.  He was a sailor, draftsman, estimator, ironworker, carpenter, electrician, plumber, and “jack of all trades.”  He designed and built four houses and remodeled several others.

He was a member of the Jackson Lions Club and felt honored to be part of the contributions the Club made to the community.

He was a pleasant, humble, patient person, devoted to his family, his country, and his community.

Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Shirley Houts, he leaves behind his wife, Reverie; daughters, Nikki and Gail (Phil); sister, Nancy Pendleton; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and extended family.

He will be laid to rest near his parents and grandparents in Santa Cruz.  Many thanks to the staff at Kit Carson for the kind way they took care of him for over three years.  There will be no services.

Dear Rev, I loved the times that you and Norm and Ruell and I were boat neighbors in Santa Cruz, you on September and us on Felicity. We had a wonderful time on the chartered boat in the Caribbean. Love to you, Beverly Powell
