Pastor Violet Youngblood Lester of 1197 Railroad Avenue, Rochelle, Georgia, died Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the Bleckley Memorial Hospital in Cochran, Georgia.
The funeral service will be on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia. The burial will follow at the Mount Aire Church Cemetery in Pulaski County, Georgia.
Everyone entering the funeral home for visitations or services is required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing. A mask must be worn throughout the stay. You must supply your mask.
Pastor Violet Youngblood Lester was born on July 29, 1950, in Wilcox County, Georgia. She was the cherished daughter of Willie Lee Youngblood, Sr., and Gladys West Youngblood. Violet's early years were spent in the warmth of a loving family, where she developed strong ties that would last throughout her life.
Violet pursued her education within the Wilcox County School System and proudly graduated from Excelsior High School in Rochelle, Georgia, as part of the class of 1969. Shortly after, she embarked on a career at a local sewing factory in Rochelle, where she worked diligently for many years. This occupation was a testament to her strong work ethic and dedication.
In 2000, our beloved answered a higher calling and became the pastor of the Holy Temple of God in Rochelle, Georgia. For years, she led her congregation with compassion and unwavering faith until her health began to decline. Known for her vibrant spirit and deep devotion, Pastor Lester often shared her favorite saying, "I'm in Love With Jesus," reflecting her profound connection with her faith.
Beyond her pastoral duties, Pastor Lester cherished the simple joys of life. She was an avid fishing enthusiast, finding peace by the water's edge. She also loved attending church services and spending quality time with her family, which she held dear to her heart.
Pastor Violet Youngblood Lester passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Bleckley Memorial Hospital in Cochran, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents and siblings, Carrie Lee Youngblood McCormick and Bobby Youngblood, Sr.
Pastor Violet Youngblood Lester's life was a testament to love, faith, and service to others. Her legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her memory lives on through her loving sisters, Lelia Youngblood Gibson and Mamie Lee Youngblood Grace, both of Rochelle, Georgia; her caring brothers, Willie Youngblood, Jr. and Eddie Youngblood (Ruby) both of Rochelle, Georgia; her aunt, Ester B. West of Pitts, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends, to include her special friends, Ann Benjamin, Minister Barbara Benjamin, and Francine Howard.
